Local 107.3fm Fall General Membership Meeting

Local 107.3fm’s (Campus Radio Saint John Inc.) fall general membership meeting will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 12:30pm in the Whitebone Lounge down the hall from the radio station. This meeting will be a fairly short one (around 1 hour but definitely less than 2) with reports from staff and committees as well as an opportunity to join said committees.

If you are available to attend, your presence is very helpful for quorum and voting purposes. Free food from Aramark will arrive at noon and the meeting will commence at exactly 12:30pm. Please consider attending.

This is a great opportunity for current members to become more involved or for prospective members to join the station.

Penny Blacks CD Release Tonight at Water St Dinner Theatre

Jason Ogden surprised me with a small fake rodent on his outstretched palm. Noticing I was confused, he offered, “Because there are rats on the album cover!”

Penny Blacks releases their long awaited album “Harbour” tonight at the Water Street Dinner Theatre. If you don’t mind keeping company with rubber critters, you can catch a six piece Penny Blacks in an intimate, candle lit envionrment at 9PM.

Jason wears his heart on his sleeve with the help of friends and bandmates Chuck Teed, Ali Leonard, Dan Chamberlain, Erin Sharpe, Chris Braydon and Clinton Charlton. Canadians love a multi-instrumental band when the chemistry is right and the harmonies rich. This album has been a long time coming. It’s the band’s first full length release following this year’s EP, “Gold Standards”, and 2008’s “Regret, Regret”. “Harbour” offers the same beautiful heartache with evolved pop and folk melodies. Jason’s edgier style à la Hospital Grade still manages to bleed through in all the right places.

With the new tracks getting airplay on the CBC, our local loves are truly growing up.

Listen to what others are saying about the album here, here, and here.
