Arts Connect November 5, at InterAction School of Performing Arts

Arts Connect mixes dance, painting, film & poetry Saturday evening at Interaction School of Performing Arts.

The former Germain Street Baptist Church will host a performance by Connection Dance Works and feature a triptych of paintings by Paul Mathieson, a documentary film by John Marshall, as well as poetry by Lorne Power.

On a personal note, I spent many hours during my years at Simonds High School covered in paint in (now retired) teacher Paul Mathieson’s classroom. His characters unsettle me because they are at once grotesque and ordinary, their expressions running across a catalogue of emotions. Needless to say I love that feeling.

This fantastic collaboration begins at 7PM. Tickets are 10$ at the door and can be purchased in advance by contacting connectiondanceworks@gmail.com

Supporters Raise over $2100 for Student & Community Media

Thanks to over 50 volunteers, more than 100 supporters, and a number of local businesses, Local 107.3fm successfully raised a personal best $2141.89 for nonprofit campus & community radio in Saint John, New Brunswick during last week’s funding drive. This money will go towards sustaining a public voice on the airwaves for another year as we near the end of our 10th anniversary.

Local 107.3fm would like to personally congratulate all of its hardworking volunteers and the exceptional local businesses who stood up for alternative media in Saint John. These include The Feel Good Store, Secondspin Records, Backstreet Records, Scheherazade Books & Music, The Telegraph-Journal, the Saint John Sea Dogs, Callahan’s Pub, Leo’s Carwash, and more.

Pledges can be honoured in a myriad of ways:

– Localfm.ca/donate: Paypal or Credit Card
– Mail: Cash, Cheque, or Money Order

Once again, thank you to everyone involved in a record-breaking year and we look forward to kicking it up another notch in 2012.

Sincerely,
Brian Cleveland, Station Manager
