Brent Mason CD release poster

Tonight, September 19th in Saint John, award winning musician Brent Mason releases his 9th recording of original music “All the Pretty Horses” at O’Leary’s. He of course has help from a few friends: Jessica Rhaye sings throughout the album with Brent’s constant partners Peter Doyle and Bob Fitzgerald on drum and bass. Produced by Frant Heckman and Tim Davidson of Ripple Effect music, Brent crosses genres from folk to country to bluegrass. Opening for Brent is your local favourite, Jessica Rhaye.

Between Colours promo photo

I’m very excited to see the ever-evolving Wilderness of Manitoba this evening at Peppers. 2014’s Between Colours, features the strong vocals of lead Whitwham and guitarist/violinist Amanda Balsysover the deep dark rhythms of bassist Wes McClintock. The band experiemented with broader, fuller instrumentation on this record, bringing in drummers Tom Bona, Marito Marques and Howie Beck along with Michael Phillip Wojewoda on theremin (!), and Alex Lifeson with a signature guitar solo.

2014 Spring Gallery Hop Friday

Pip Project no. 18: Duke & Germain 2

Pip Project no. 18: Duke & Germain 2

The spring gallery hop has got to be my favourite. The cobwebs have just been shook off, the patios are under construction, and a winter’s worth of work is freshly hung.

I’m personally rather excited for Sarah Jones’ Pip Project debuting at Jones Gallery and stopping in to the Prince William Street Studio Collective (an unofficial hop stop).

Join me for a walk around the block and a sip at Happinez, won’t you?
