The name of the column might change (I made it up on the fly), but you can expect the same high quality content week after week (or month after month - we haven't discussed how often he'll contribute). Click the link below for the article, and feel free to discuss here!

Good work. I like that first song. The other ones make Ariel Pink seem like James Taylor.

^Uncomfortable in the "this ain't right" sense or uncomfortable in the "why am I turned on by this" sense?

Just uncomfortable. I decided to post this because it seems like this is what you're going for.

Wellll, maybe a little bit, but all of the stuff I've posted so far has been music I legitimately enjoy.

Love that guys' stuff. My favourites are the Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory remixes.

neat article on Jandek.

i first heard about him in 2004 when he started doing live appearances. It's true, you can only get his music from his mail order label. In much the same way as home-recording godfather R. Stevie Moore, Jandek maintains complete control over his own releases, and listening to his earliest stuff confirms that he was a lo-fi pioneer, well ahead of the movement by a good 10 years. His stuff is stark, demanding, eerie and ultimately life-affirming! nice piece, cryptowen!

Thanks. Do you have any of his albums? I'm planning on getting a few, but he has so many to choose from...

unfortunately i don't have any proper records, just stuff from torrent sites. with so little written about Jandek and such a large body of work, it's difficult to know what to check out. I used allmusic's discog as a guide, as I find they are pretty reliable.

This is a topic I've been meaning to cover for a while now, but just recently got around to after discovering not one but two officially released albums of actual scary moon noise. Exciting stuff.

Perez Hilton posted a link to Tonetta's "A Beautiful Blonde" today. Now I can say I heard of him before he sold out.

P.S. I don't read Perez Hilton. A friend told me about the link. A friend none of you know, with no name, that you can't contact for verification. That friend.

P.P.S. When I can I expect the next installment of your column, Cryptowen??

Oh crap, I had totally forgotten about this. I'll send you something later today. I'm going backpacking in the near future, though, so it might be hard to find stuff for a while after that. Will do so if I get an opportunity, though...

New column is up. I would have added it sooner, but I was getting married and stuff.
