Where has it been confirmed? It's not on Harbour Station's website and I can't find an official PJ site, so I don't know if it's there.

I can't wait to see Pearl Jam. Their one of the bands that I grew up listening too. Sure their new stuff bites nuts but it's still Pearl Jam. I can understand though why someone like Brent wouldn't go, what were you 5 when Ten was released? Everyone complains about how no big/good bands come to Saint John, then one does and the people in the local music scene are too indier thou to support it. Look at it this way, maybe Eddie Vedder will have a good time here because it'll probably be foggy and it will remind him of Seattle and he will go and tell someone like Buzz Melvin to bring The Melvins or Fantomas here. Buzz Melvin can then tell Thurston Moore about this shitty city that is right foggy that Big Ed was talking about and Sonic Youth can come here. Now this is obviously not going to happen, but use your imagination. Now if in the best case scenerio Eddie tells Mark Arm about it and Mudhoney show up, that would rock, but I bet most of the people on this forum would stick their noises up at any one of those bands I mentioined. And I know I am getting carried away about what could happen after Pearl Jam play, Eddie probably doesn't even know Mark Arm or Buzz Melvin, christ he's not even from Seattle. But imagine what would be like if he was?

I was 5 when Ten was released, well, I am a few months older then Brent, but I have heard Ten, growing up it was a great cd. To this day Jeremy is one of the greatest creepiest videos of all time. Age doesn't mean you can't be influenced by them or like them, but they have gone way past their prime, and personally I won't be there. It is cool that major acts are coming here, but they were major ten years ago, not in the 05.

For those who say they are past their prime know nothing about Pearl Jam or have not heard any of their albums after VS. Anyone who says they have done nothing after VS have not given the new albums a good listen. Riot Act is PEarl Jam on top of their game with the best drummer they have ever had. Binaural is their weakest, yet better than most bands going right now.
Just pick up their B-side "lost dogs cd". Their b sides are solid tunes and better than most bands best songs.

comparing Pearl Jam to 50 cent and the game makes you sound like a complete douche bag as well. Are you 10?

This is a HUGE show for Saint John, like Meg said if you don't like it, don't go, but for those who will go are in for a treat like no other Saint John has seen.

its fucking Pearl Jam for christ sakes!

this question's been asked already, but no one has answered as of yet... where can one find out if the show's really been confirmed?

for the nay-sayers: pj's going to rock... just saw them a couple years ago and they ruled, and they had a kick-ass opening band (buzzcocks). yes eddie, it would have been much cooler 10 years ago, but they weren't here 10 years ago, they're (hopefully) coming now, so when (and if) tickets do go on sale, i'll be out front of harbour station camping out cause it's going to be a good time. and i must add to the other posts: for those of us old folks on the forum, ten was one of those life-altering albums. their post-VS stuff is pretty cool too, i especially dig yield and riot act. for those of you anti-war folks, seeing eddie do bushleaguer is especially satisfying to witness. well that's all for now.

Posted On 17-04-05 11:35:57 Subject: RE: PEARL JAM CONFIRMED

If is is true, then this is going to be a wicked show, and it will be great for the city. I'll wait and see though. I remember hearing a rumor many moons ago that these guys were coming to The Local...but that was before HS was built I think.

It's simple - if you don't like the band for whatever reason, then don't go. But if you are concerned about who you might run into there, then you have some other issues to deal with. Or you can go the fuck back to jr High School. The band will be there, and that's all that matters.

Posted On 18-04-05 14:34:28 Subject: RE: PEARL JAM CONFIRMED

Agreed. That album did so much for me, and it was released before I was a teenager. So just because I wasn't around when the album was big and hitting the specific age bracket it hit, doesn't mean I don't get it. I could look up the stats to see how many albums Ten sold in the two years after it's release, and I would understand how big it was, and I could easily listen to it (Which I have) and realize it would have been a ground-breaking life altering album for PJ fans. I totally understand. But I am young, and Appetite for Destruction in my eyes is one of the greatest rock records ever released. So that comment "the teenagers on here wouldn't understand the effect it had when it was released, and how big it was" or whatever you said, was completely ignorant. I know people who feel Jimi Hendrix albums or Led Zeppeling albums were the greatest albums and they look at their highschool years and say that album did so much for me through highschool, and clearly they weren't even born yet. So age has nothing to do with it.

16th ave...wrong....

I stand by my statement. Unless you were in your teens (a time when most people come into their own and search for self identity) when that album came, then you do not understand how huge it was for us then.
Does not mean that you cannot appreciate the album for what it is/was or truly love it. Fuck I love Led Zeppelin and acknowledge their signifigance in music history, but I will never know what it was like to hear good times bad times or Babe I'm gonna be leaving you when they first came out and blew everyone away.

not ignorant at all.. accurate. Sorry you missed it. But I am sure you had some bands influence you that I could not fully comprehend. Don't hate.

sixteenth avenue

.if your heart was broken,

you would be dead.

Posted On 18-04-05 15:03:05 Subject: RE: PEARL JAM CONFIRMED

Well I still stand by my statement because I have certain times in my life where bands I wasn't around when their big albums dropped still influenced me as much as bands do that I listen to currently while their albums come out. Either way, music goes through people, it isn't so much as when it was released. I can see why you are saying it'd be different in the tiniest bit if you were making out with a girl in the back of the pick up truck and a LZ song came on the radio, as opposed to making out with a girl in the back of a Civic and a LZ song came on the cd you had burnt.... different in a small aspect, but not as big as you are making it out to be.
Appreciate.
fred mcgriff

Posted On 18-04-05 15:07:44 Subject: RE: PEARL JAM CONFIRMED

good analogy.
Its is only slightly different, but different enough to differentiate..if you know what I mean. Discovering an album that has been around for years, and hearing something that was just released yesterday can feel the same, but are two different experiences.

I think the main thing here is that we both appreciate Pearl Jam, and by that alone you are ok with me.

sixteenth avenue

Posted On 18-04-05 15:39:42 Subject: RE: PEARL JAM CONFIRMED

Actually, I don't like Pearl Jam. Sorry for all the arguing. Same with Led Zeppelin, they don't push my buttons anymore. But when I first started to get into music heavily, alot of older rock bands were what I loved. (Sabbath, Rush, LZ, Pearl Jam) So I am familiar with TEN very much so, and I understand how big of an album it is though I am not into it anymore. I am into alot of different types of music now, but I know what you mean with the album release date, and the fans discovering bands. I just enjoyed this argument and it sufficed my boredom for an hour:)
