atlhough there were not as many people there as were needed, it really raises the bar for shows in saint john i think. there were about 200 people there, and the crowd was awesome, and it was a really good time. i was very impressed with everything.

erin: nice meeting you. finally you got your pin.
liam: i'm sorry, i hope you get well soon.
linda and brian: thanks for putting so much effort into this show and to all the others you do. i know you both get discouraged sometimes, but we all really appreciate what you're doing. xo

Fuck.

Linda - you are a goddess. Thank you, thank you, for bringing that show to us.

To the guy who kept elbowing me in the face in the pit - you are not a goddess. Everyone else: well done. I love being in a crowd with a hundred people all kicking the crap out of each other and smilin' at each other the whole time. Power of the music, baby.

To Tan-Nee: thank you for being so light and easy to lift, for i am very weak.

I saw a lot of digicams out there tonight. Let's see those pics, people!

i wanted to write a post to thank linda and brian and everyone who helped as soon as i got in last night, but since i had to work this morning, i was forced to go to sleep...but i was so excited that didn't happen for close to an hour!! in either care:

THANK YOU GUYS! the show was awesome, definitely best show i've been to this year. the front was crazy and filled with good vibes. there's just something about seeing a big band like kmfdm and knowing EVERYBODY in the crowd that makes it all worthwhile and a totally unique experience! for the record, i would have payed more than $25 for that.

definitely, easily, the best show I've ever been to... still in a lot of pain in recovering, but it was all worth it. I only got 20 pictures taken (after the super-blur and/or blackness ones were deleted) and 8 movies. The sound is pretty horrible in the movies, but they are still cool :)

And yeah, that pit was intense and so much fun. Everyone was jumping, pushing, punching, you name it... but if you met eyes with someone, they met yours right back with a smile. Everyone was there to have fun and not to hurt others.

And how about those Acucrack guys? Jesus fuck!

The best part was when Matt White's boyfriend kept getting into my personal space, and I kept pushing him away. And then he realized that I was pushing him and he started to get all mean to me. And I started pushing him really hard, and his friend stopped him cause his friend realized I was about to break some skulls.

And 25 bucks!!???? For an extra 5 bucks I'm gonna see Lamb of God, Fear Factory, Throwdown and Children of Botom. Could the band wagon get any fuller?

for myself, kmfdm was a band that I listened to quite a bit in high school... almost as much as NIN, Front Line Assembly, and Skinny Puppy. The past few years of my life I haven't listened to them as much, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna shit my pants when they come to Saint John. I expect it was the same for a lot of people.

I'm not doubting there is a few who really like them. Everyones making a big stink acting like it's the biggest act we ever got. Remember June 12th??? Slayer?? It's was only and extra 10 bucks too. Not to mention Dime was there. Where the fuck was everybody's support for the Saint John music scene then?? This was a really good opportunity to get big heavy bands more serious about coming here and no one fucking showed. Let's see how many new KMFDM t-shirt we see floating around for the next month or so before they fade back into the early 90's where they where good and dead.

the thing about the kmfdm show is that it was actually someone from the scene that took the risk to put the show on, not harbour station and a big promotional company.

its hard to say a concert at harbour station is reflective of any sort of scene effort.

Hey Randall:

>Everyones making a big stink acting like it's the biggest act we ever got. Remember June 12th??? Slayer?? It's was only and extra 10 bucks too.

There is a world of difference between Slayer and KMFDM, so don't even put them in the same category dude. Maybe nobody went to the Slayer show because they're fucking boring and I can name 20 other bands who sound just like them.

>Let's see how many new KMFDM t-shirt we see floating around for the next month or so before they fade back into the early 90's where they where good and dead.

There always has to be some dork who likes to shit on everyone's parade. KMFDM are the best, most interesting band to come to this city in a long time. I'd rather go see them than some contrived metal band that have nothing interesting to say, and I'm sure many of the people there last night feel the same way.

And whoever brought up the fact that the maritime shows weren't sold out like the other Canadian cities...big friggin surprise!!! Maybe it's because most folks on the east coast listen to crap music. Just turn on any commercial FM station in this city and you'll see what I mean.

What are you fucking brain dead?? KMFDM is more of a deserving act than Slayer?? They might have a more seemingly unique approach than Slayer for music being made around here but there's a ton of Eurotrash that sounds like them.

As far as shitting on your parade. I don't give a fuck who was there and whether they liked them or not. It's this jump on the new thing mentality that's is this city's biggest problem as far as musical growth goes. It's too bad the new thing this week is a washed up band that wasn't even fuck all in their prime. But hey they're better than Slayer.

Get ready for that teabag, Randy, I owned kmfdm cd's long before this show and i'm fucking 16 man. So what if we say this is the biggest show put on in Saint John? I'd have to agree on what was said about it being put on by showgoers themself rather then a 'stadium' dealy. I enjoyed the show to no end, and don't think i'll top it for a while. And what would you get pissed at us for saying the KMFDM show was better for the scene then the Slayer one, when you're doing the same thing to us!

either way, i'm sure there were plenty of people at slayer for

So...you're mad because some people who attended the show weren't KMFDM fans from way back? I go to shows all the time for bands whose albums i don't own, and if i enjoy the show i'll rave about it afterwards.

Sheesh.

I mean, as it happens, i've owned several KMFDM cd's for years, and i've long considered them one of my favourite bands. They're also a bit more "underground" than most of the big acts that come to Harbour Station (Slayer included) so it's a more rare treat that they would come here. I also happen to find KMFDM about a hundred times more interesting than Slayer, who i've always found bland and way overrated - but that's just my opinion and i'm not into the genre, so there you are. KMFDM and Slayer have very different styles and personalities as performers, so they're gonna attract some different kinds of people. If it's that much of a problem for you that some of us think KMFDM are (much, much) better than Slayer, well, i guess you're just going to have to get over it.

And, yes, i'd rather go out of my way to see a local promoter like Linda's shows make money than Harbour Station. And quit complaining about the ticket price, anyone who wanted to could've got a ticket for $15 in advance - i'd have paid twice that to see KMFDM.

I wouldn't take a Slayer ticket if it was free.

My main argument is the show was over-priced and over-hyped. I'm glad you all had a good time, I'm sad KMFDM's bus didn't blow up on the way out of town. I'm also more metal than the average man. Schwing!!!

1- a skull tattoo

3- T shirt of bands that are far too metal for the current time (IE Van Halen, GnFnR and to a lesser extent ZZ Top).

For the record I have to skull tattoos and a solid GnR collection.

and i personally loved seeing lots of people who were not regulars to the "scene". i talked with a few people in the line up who had obviously been fans for years(like myself). all in all, my favourite show in SJ.
